On Monday, April 30th Sacramento County Coalition for Youth (SCCY) and their community partners held a Call to Action at Safety Center Inc. This Call to Action is the first of three that will happen throughout the city of Sacramento. These Call to Actions focus on the legalization of marijuana, current trends and the affect it has on our youth’s future.
Monday’s event included dinner, a youth led Jeopardy game and conversations with our expert panelists. Panelists included Deputy James from Cordova PD, William Schneider a Drug and Alcohol Counselor from Life Steps Consulting, Angela Da Re from Delta Prevention, Shari Egeland from Omni Youth Programs and Dr. Colby from UC Davis Medical Center.
Through this Call to Action community members have the opportunity to get more involved and how we can ensure that youth put their #FutureForward. Opportunities include education and training, a Youth Summit, advocacy/civic engagement, leadership development and mini grant opportunities.
Community members can apply for mini grants between $1,000-$10,000 so they can implement project in their communities. Youth can also get involved with the Youth Summit that is happening on Monday, June 18th at the Double Tree Hotel.
